Film Talk With M. Aundre: George Romero’s Twilight of the Dead

I figured I’d share this, in case people weren’t aware that “Twilight of the Dead” is in the works. This was something George Romero had began working on prior to passing away in 2017.

Am I excited about the new film?

I’m on the fence about it. I’m all about continuing a franchise to keep the legacy going, paying homage, and delivering something worthwhile to the fans. However, if this is going to be a “cash grab”, then leave it be.

Being a horror movie fanatic since an early age, I’ve seen a wide array of horror movies since I was about five. Many weren’t age appropriate at the time. I believe I turned out okay.

It wasn’t until my mid-teenage years when I became familiar with George Romero’s 1968 original “Night of the Living Dead.” I later saw the remake with Tony Todd, and then the Dawn of the Dead/Day of the Dead remakes.

Just recently, I backtracked to the original versions of the two films I mentioned in the last sentence, above.

I also watched “Survival of the Dead” and “Land of the Dead”. I admit, I wasn’t of fan of those.

Out of the film collection, my all-time favorites are:

Night of The Living Dead (1968) + (1990)

Dawn of the Dead (1979) + (2004)

Day of the Dead (1985)

I included the remakes, as I was actually impressed with them.

Prior to getting into these films, I was never really a fan of zombie films. I believe the retro style of filmmaking is what drew me in. I enjoy older flicks. After becoming a fan of those, I was inclined to check out the remakes. I found those to be quite good, but stand by the originals.
